Acorn TV is an American subscription streaming service that offers television programs from the UK, as well as Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. It's available on a variety of devices including Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and Roku.

History
Acorn TV is owned by RLJ Entertainment, Inc. Acorn Media Group has been distributing British television in the United States since 1994, initially selling VHS tapes before moving to DVD and Blu-ray media. Continuing the expansion of the company into a new format, Acorn TV was launched as a subscription to Acorn's direct-to-consumer ecommerce website in 2011. In 2013, Acorn TV was relaunched as a standalone service with expanded content offerings and monthly and yearly subscription options. In 2013, the service began offering exclusive content, beginning with US premiere of Doc Martin , Series 6. By 2015, Acorn TV is the only streaming niche service that has programs nominated for Emmy when Curtain: Poirot's Last Case was nominated for Best Television Movie. As of December 31, 2016, it has 430,000 paid subscribers.

Programming
Acorn TV offers a combination of new and classic mysteries, drama, comedy, and documentary. Content licensing services from manufacturers and distributors including ITV, Channel 4, BBC Worldwide, All3Media, DRG, ZDF, and Content Media Corp.
Genuine programming
Since its parent company, RLJ Entertainment, owns a 64% stake in Agatha Christie Limited, Christie's plantation license arm, Acorn TV is able to offer the US premier of the last episode of Agatha Christie's Poirot in the summer of 2014, the co-production of the BBC Partners Crime in September 2015, and Witness for Prosecution (miniseries) by 2017.
RLJ Entertainment also has all rights to Foyle's War , enabling Acorn TV to offer a US premiere in its last season in 2015.
The next original series include Agatha Raisin , Close to Enemy , The Level , and Striking Out .

Since its launch, Acorn TV has offered premier performances of some or all seasons of the British series including Detectorists, Vera, Inspector George Gently, and > Midsomer Murder . After initially focusing exclusively on programming from the UK, Acorn TV expanded its content offerings to include programs from other regions, including Australia A Place to Call Home, Miss Myster Mystery Mystery , Jack Irish and Janet King , New Zealand The Brokenwood Mysteries and 800 Words, Canada Murdoch Mystery and 19-2 , and Clean Break Ireland and Striking Out . By 2015, the service is starting to offer foreign language dramas. The service also offers a selection of documentary films, including historical titles, travel, art, and science.
