Histori
Architect Noldi Schreck, who participated in the design and construction of Beverly Hills, was visited in 1966 by Prince Alfonso de Hohenlohe to ask him to work at Hotel Marbella Club. Schreck's first task was to meet JosÃÆ'à © BanÃÆ'ús (a close friend of Francisco Franco), and assured him that Puerto BanÃÆ'à ¢ à ¢ à ¢ was not a suitable place to build a large skyscraper that would accommodate thousands of wealthy families. He proposed a sophisticated Andalusian village and marina, the first port created by a single architect. JosÃÆ'à © BanÃÆ'ús became the largest developer of residential tourism complex on the Costa del Sol. Port takes its name and he becomes famous with the nickname "regime builder."
The opening of the luxurious complex in May of 1970 was attended by, among others, Aga Khan, film director Roman Polanski, Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, Dr. Christiaan Barnard (pioneer of heart transplant), and Prince Rainier and Princess Grace of Monaco. Young Julio Iglesias was hired to sing for guests with a total of 125,000 pesetas. Three hundred servants from Sevilla serve 22 kilos of beluga caviar up to 1,700 guests.
In 2011, it was reported that one of the largest-scale developments in Marbella's history was underway with an investment of 400 million euros to La Bajadilla, east of Marbella, by Qatari Sheikh Abdullah Ben Nasser Al-Thani which included a 200 meter (660Ã, ft) dock for cruises , five star hotels in the marina, as well as bars, restaurants, shops and supermarkets to compete with Puerto BanÃÆ'ús.
