Navarre Corp. is a public distribution and publishing company founded in 1983 by Eric H. Paulson. The company is headquartered in New Hope, Minnesota. Navarre has two subsidiaries: software publisher, Encore, Inc., and distributor, Navarre Entertainment Media . The company previously offered niche films through BCI Home Entertainment a.k.a. BCI Eclipse Company (formerly Brentwood), but the division was closed in 2008 due to restructuring, after 2 years of unprofitable.
In June 2005, Navarre determined that its financial statements for 2004, and the first and third quarters of 2005, had to be restated, as the costs associated with delayed compensation based on incentives from company CEOs were recorded in the wrong quarter. In 2016, Navarre Distribution was relaunched to provide audio and movie distribution to labels and artists globally.
