Histori

Cherry Beach Sound was founded in 1982 by Carman Guerrieri, who continues to operate the studio today. The reference name is Cherry Beach, the local beach. The building that houses Cherry Beach Sound is called The Munition Factory, because it serves as an ammunition factory in the early 20th century. Awarded with Best Mix's "Best of 2005", Cherry Beach is a popular destination for artists and continues to attract entertainers such as 50 Cent, who filmed her 2005 drama, Get Rich Or Die Tryin 'in one of her studios. Kevin James and Adam Sandler recently visited the facility to work on Pixels (movie 2015). Other famous musicians recently recorded at Cherry Beach include Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Mark Ronson, Legend John, Drake, Keri Hilson, Jean Wyclef, Trey Songz, Saukrates, Usher, Timbaland, Ludacris The Jonas Brothers, and American Idol Finalist Jason Castro. In 2017, Cherry Beach Sound and chief engineer Inaam Haq were awarded a Grammy Award for this Year's Record in the 59th Annual Grammy Awards for their work at Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson

Bus accidents

In January 2006, at around 6:30 pm, Cherry Beach Sound was hit by a 3 meter Gray Line bus inside the building and damaging supporters. To prevent buildings from collapsing and to clean up fuel spills, structural engineers and teams of hazardous materials are sent to handle the situation. There were no passengers on the bus and the driver ran away with minor injuries. Buses penetrate buildings, destroy the front facade and damage the main wall of the interior, in need of serious repair. The bus stopped just inches from the newly constructed Control Room A, thankfully no one was inside the building at the time. Soon after, the building was completely repaired and run as usual.

Remodeling

In January 2005, a substantial amount was invested in renovations and the addition of a sophisticated new studio to Cherry Beach. The new Studio, Control Room A, was designed by Martin Pilchner of renowned facility designer Pilchner-Schoustal International and includes four Genelec 1034B monitors, Genelec 1034BC in middle speaker position and sub Genelec 7073A mounted under the SSL6000 56-input console in the Cherry Beach control room newly designed. Carman Guerrieri, owner of Cherry Beach stated that the new composition of the studio: "is able to produce fullrange audio music to the threshold of feelings at both extreme frequencies - 19 Hz at the lower end - and at extreme amplitudes - more than 125 dB SPL per unit. extraordinary. Studio/Tools

Cherry Beach Sound has two control rooms, one of which has a large Solid State Logic console, and the other uses the Console D CONTROL Digidesign console. The two control rooms are connected to the studio's living floor, and are designed and treated acoustically by Martin Pilchner. Control Room A is one of a kind studios as it is the only studio in Canada with a Soffit-installed Genelec monitor and a sound capability of about 5.1. Pilchner-Schoustal International website states: "The main feature of this design is the enormous front window that connects the control room to the studio. The four separate layers of laminated glass take up more than 6 feet depth and run over 21 feet in length including two 30 degrees per layer. The window also extends upward into the studio room, and thus incorporates a large amount of glass. "Cherry Beach Sound uses the latest modern technologies such as Source-Connect, Genelec monitor arrays, 56-channel SSL consoles, pre-amps and Neve compressors and Manley, Grand C7 Grand piano, and many mics including Neumann U 87, Neumann U 89, AKG C 414 EB, Sennheiser MD 421, and more.

Cluster Factory

The building containing Cherry Beach Sound, The Munitions Factory , houses several other companies such as Zero Fractal and Pro Rehearsal and Backline, offering services such as exercise room rentals. The Munitions Factory warehouse section is used for storage, filming/shooting and construction sets. The facility currently offers three video suites, eleven workout rooms, workshops and rental services for film and television production. The warehouse, originally built in 1911 has a high ceiling that dates back to its history as an ammunition factory. The high ceilings are designed to allow high rise explosions before hitting the ceiling and being forced to expand horizontally. This reduces the risk of injury in case of ammunition-related accidents. Today, high ceilings make warehouses a popular space for movie shoots, big band rehearsals, and other events.
