Khan Shatyr ("Royal Marquee") is a large transparent tent in Astana, capital of Kazakhstan. Built with a distinctive neo-semitic style, this architectural project was inaugurated by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev on December 9, 2006.

The 150m-high (500Ã, ft) tents have a 200m elliptical base of 140,000 square meters (14 acres; 35 acres). Under the hood, a wider area of ​​10 football stadiums, is an internal park, shopping and entertainment scaled with urban squares and rocky paths, boating rivers, shopping malls, minigolf and indoor beach resorts. The fabric roof is built from an ETFE cushion provided by Vector Foiltec which is hung on a cable network strung from the central tower. The transparent material allows the sunlight to pass, along with the effects of the heap, air heater and cooling system, is designed to maintain internal temperatures between 15-30 ° C (59-86 ° F) in the main room and 19-24 ° C (66-75Ã, Â ° F) in retail units, while outside temperatures vary between -35 and 35Ã, Â ° C (-31 and 95Ã, Â ° F) throughout the year.

Following the construction of the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation (opened in 2006), a giant glass pyramid, the Khan Shatyr Entertainment Center is the second national project in Astana designed by British architect Norman Foster (of Foster and Partners), (Partners in charge of Filo Russo and Peter Ridley ), and British engineer Buro Happold was led by Mike Cook. Architects of construction documentation are Linea and Gultekin. The tent-town development is the responsibility of the Sembol Turkish company.

After a series of delays, the main pole was finally erected in December 2008, and the entire complex was completed and opened on July 5, 2010, the 70th anniversary of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
