Histori
In April 2015, the park explores options to open new attractions in the Forbidden Valley. The plans were eventually canceled and developed at the site of The Flume's former attraction, which closed in October 2015. The planning documents were submitted to the Staffordshire Moorlands District Council on April 23, 2016. They documented the SW8 spatial layout and the surrounding area. They also suggested that The Flume's old station would be converted into a 'Smokehouse' restaurant, but the idea was later abandoned and the station was removed. The Planning App Committee approved the plan on August 25, 2016.
Roller coaster designed by Merlin Entertainments. Retired pull puller John Wardley brought in the final stages to increase the first drop of travel, describing the original profile as "horrible" and that the drops "have no major sensation". He added, however, that he "believes Wicker Man will be a huge success". Construction on a new trip, originally named "Secret Weapon 8" (SW8), begins on November 28, 2016 begins with the demolition of The Flume. In 2017, the path leading from Mutiny Bay to Katanga Canyon is closed for the season for vehicle access to the construction site. The main structure of the coaster - which consists of stations, shops, and queues - began in March 2017.
The first timber for the coaster arrived at Alton Towers on May 4, 2017. Construction of the elevator hill reached its highest point in early July, and in October 2017, several parts of the lane were installed. On December 9, 2017, the European Coaster Club and several other sources stated that the rides had conducted its first test on December 7, 2017.

Marketing
On March 16, 2016, the "Towers Loving Care" Twitter account in the park shared a picture of a construction fence surrounding the dead tourist attraction, The Flume. A sign has been posted that reads "SW8: A New Ride-Landing Development," where SW8 stands for Secret Weapon 8. Since this park has traditionally done in the past, they use code names that begin with "Secret Weapons" followed by number to refer to major projects under construction. A video was released on the travel website in August 2017 and on YouTube detailing the rides of the Secret Arms previously in the park.
A few days after the video release, the signs around the construction site are updated with phrases written in chronicle alphabets that are translated as "Be Chosen". The same sentence was burned to a nearby wooden fence adjacent to several signs. The travel potential name and logo was leaked by a website on August 25, 2017, discovered through a trademark archive by Alton Towers. The second video was released on August 27, 2017 featuring two hosts discussing the "Secret Weapon" rides in a large space filled with references to other rides in the park. Videos include hidden messages designed to help decode secret phrases that have been made for travel.
During Scarefest at Alton Towers in 2017, the park debuted with a new scare attraction called "The Welcoming: Be Chosen". It was described as a prequel for the SW8, and the theme was centered around a cult village. The third video was released on October 27, 2017. About halfway, the video was interrupted by words written in secret:
"We interrupt this to bring you good news. You are invited to a celebration, our Earth's celebration and its beauty. These are all this noise. These technologies. There's too much, isn't there a time or space to think" Is there? Deep inside you know the truth, is not it? Technology has now taken government. How did you get here? Maybe it does not matter. The important thing is this opportunity; your chance to reconnect with the Earth "Come join us near the forest and take part in our celebration How far do you choose to go... that is your choice What part of you choose to play... only you can decided on a night where life met Death. "
Wicker Man's official name and logos are confirmed in a press release on January 8, 2018. Along with the spring opening date, it was revealed that the trip will be the world's first roller coaster that unites wood with fire. On the same day, a promotion featuring the projected Wicker Man logo on the London Eye. The artwork to promote the rides was created by Kyle Lambert, with a Hollywood-style illustration of a journey that passes through a statue of flaming mannequin.
Description
The journey begins with a preshow before boarding the rides with "selected people", who are told they will be sacrificed to the Wicker Man. The fabric in which the short video was played was then lifted in the dark to reveal the three-dimensional head of the Wicker Man, which has an image projected onto it. It is accompanied by sound as well as various lighting effects.
Upon boarding, the train will rotate 180 degrees down, briefly passing through a room filled with smoke with orange lighting elements, emphasizing a fire-themed journey. The train turns 180 degrees to the left and up into the foothills. Passengers then accelerate through a sound tunnel filled with smoke and lightning elements to the first place, where the rider's camera is located. The car then passes through another sound tunnel again filled with lightning and smoke before it flows down a second. The train passes the Wicker Man statue, filled with screens showing the effects of fire and smoke, which simultaneously fire simultaneously as the train passes by. The track layout has trains that pass through the structure three times through three separate tunnels before returning to the station.
Upon stopping, the train spins forward inside the building to the track section parallel to the treatment area with light and smoke effects in the front tunnel. After a pause to allow the ride to another train, the journey continues to the station where the command is pronounced, "Exit to the left, no way out to the right."
After baggage collection, motorists have the option to view and purchase travel photos. There is also an up shop including the Great Rattan Statue as its center, where additional merchandise can be purchased, including a limited edition "Pre-Launch Wicker Man Photography Box" featuring wooden pieces numbered from the journey.
