Black Butter Records is an independent record label previously based in London, England which released various styles of electronic music. The company was founded in 2010 by Olly Wood, Henry Village and Joe Gossa, with an investment of £ 5,000, and is named after a spice brand that has the same name. Originally intended as an outlet for musicians who signed contracts with their artist management company, Stackhouse Management, and in reaction to another "genre-specific" label.
This label releases mostly singles, and has released the first release of artists including Clean Bandit, Rudimental, and Jessie Ware. It was awarded 'Best Small Label' at the 2012 Independent Music Awards Association, and has been described as the "center" of the UK electronic music world.
