Histori
The company was started by Samuel Tatelman in 1918 in Waltham, Massachusetts. Samuel sold furniture from the back of the truck until 1926. In the late 1930s, his son, Edward, joined the business. In 1973, Barry and Eliot Tatelman took over the business from their father, Edward. They stopped advertising on the back page of Waltham paper and started on the radio. In 1983, Barry and Eliot built and opened the location of Nashua, New Hampshire.
In 1987, they opened the location of Avon, Massachusetts, creating the biggest congestion ever recorded on Route 24. Barry and Eliot had to go to the radio to ask people not to come. Customers lined up for hours waiting their turn into the showroom.
On Mother's Day 1992, Motion Odyssey Movie (MOM) opened at the Avon shop, after five years of planning and investing $ 2.5 million. More than 1 million people have experienced MOM, generating more than $ 300,000 for nonprofit organizations.
On April 17, 1998, Barry and Eliot opened Jordan's largest Furniture to date with 120,000 sq ft (11,000 m 2 ). showroom and Mardi Gras/Bourbon Street theme, Natick, the Massachusetts location introduced Jordan to the MetroWest area.
In October 1999, Tatelman's brothers sold the company to the Berkshire Hathaway insurance conglomerate. The sale is intended to increase Jordan's Furniture financial support for future growth. To celebrate, every employee receives 50 cents for every hour that Jordan has ever worked for. Operationally, nothing has changed. Barry and Eliot still lead, still starring in all radio/TV commercials and as an integral part of the company.
On Thursday, August 22, 2002, IMAX 3D Theater at Jordan's Furniture at Natick opened its doors to the public. This new venue offers a new level of "shoppertainment" in the history of Jordan Furniture. The Waltham store was closed in 2004, the new day of Reading, the Massachusetts store opened, which is the largest location in Jordan. This includes the complete showroom, warehouse, and IMAX 3D cinema. In addition, Jordan opened the 750,000 square foot Warehouse/Office complex in Taunton, Massachusetts. In 2005, the warehouse under the Avon store was changed to the Colossal Clearance Center, which contained over 60,000 square feet (5,600 m 2 ) merchandise.
In 2015, Jordan's Furniture opens its door in New Haven, Connecticut.
Barry Tatelman left Jordan's Furniture in December 2006,
After Barry left for Hollywood, Eliot Tatelman remains the public face of the company. Recently, Tatelman has aligned himself as a sponsor of the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins radio and television broadcasts. For several baseball seasons Spiel Tatelman has offered free furniture to shoppers if the Red Sox make unlikely matches, such as sweeping the World Series in four games, or if the Sox dough hits a ball that touches a baseball the size of a dinner plate next to the Jordan logo on middle field fence.
The origin of company names is uncertain; the brothers once speculated that their grandfather chose the name of the hat.
2017 is the sixth year Jordan's Furniture partnered with Cradles to Crayons' Ready for School program. The program provides homeless and low-income children with a one-week backpack full of supplies for the upcoming school year, including clothing and other essential items. By 2017, the partnership has helped 12,435 children.
The Jordan's Furniture at Warwick Mall once featured a spectacular liquid fireworks show called Splash! Opened in December 2011, the show features thousands of nozzles firing water into the ceiling mixed with colorful laser lights to create an unforgettable experience for shoppers at the mall. Last 15-minute show. Jordan says there are 9,000 water nozzles, 15,000 watts of digital surround sound, 20,000 watts of light, and 16 watt sophisticated lasers for all this to actually happen. Splash! closed on June 18, 2017 due to mechanical problems with the event and low attendance.

Promotions
Spring in Boston found Jordan's Furniture utilizing the annual beginning of the Red Sox baseball season to sell furniture.
Monster transaction
As a promotion in 2007, Jordan offered a full discount for certain furniture purchased between March 7 and April 16 - provided the Boston Red Sox wins the World Series. To cover potential liabilities, the store issued an insurance policy for about twenty million US dollars. On October 28, 2007, the Red Sox defeated the Colorado Rockies to win the World Series, Jordan's Furniture wrote a check to about 24,000 eligible customers.
Joseph Frate of Medford, MA sued Jordan's Furniture claiming that the promotion was an illegal lottery. The case was issued by the Middlesex High Court and, after an appeal by Frate, by the State Court of Appeals in July 2009.
2008 Monster sweep
In other promotions related to the Red Sox, in 2008, Jordan offered a full discount for certain furniture. Instead of winning only the World Series, the Red Sox must sweep the Series, winning four games in a row. No winners.
Monster hit, 2010 - 2012
In 2010, the promotion was launched on March 31, with anyone who purchased furniture between April 1 and May 2 get the furniture for free if a Red Sox player hits a plate-sized baseball on Jordan's Furniture sign on the outfield wall at Fenway Park between 15 July and the end of the season on 3 October. Jordan offers 20% discount to the customer if the picture is not beaten during the promotion period. No player hit the little baseball, and no free furniture was provided.
In spring 2011, Tatelman returns again, this time with a new "Hit Monster" campaign ("Hit or no hit... You Win!"). Clad in Red Sox clothing, Tatelman is once again a white-tailed figure everywhere in print media, television, and Internet banner ads. The gimmick is the same as described above: if a Red Sox player hits a ball that slams a baseball the size of a plate next to the Jordan logo in the midfield die, Jordan Jordan's purchase price of Jordan Furniture will be returned. If no player hits the logo, all buyers will receive 20% credit for Jordan's purchase in the future. The promotional purchase period lasts throughout spring, but the "timer" for the actual beating of the mark does not start until July 22, 2011, and continues until the end of the season. The Red Sox season ends on September 28, 2011, and for the second year in a row, there are no winners.
Hit Monster returns for 2012, with the same deal as described above, but with additional advertising. The 2012 "timer" to hit a baseball the size of a plate next to the Jordan logo in the dead center field begins on July 16 and continues until the end of the season. The Red Sox home season ends on September 26, 2012, and for the third year in a row, no hitter hits a small baseball, and once again, the Hit Monster Promotion does not produce a winner.
Big Check
On September 30, 2011, two days after the end of the Monster Hit promotion, Tatelman reappeared with the Big Check campaign along with the Boston Bruins' 2011-2012 NHL season. Tatelman hit the airwaves of television and a series of more internet banner/pop-up ads, this time wearing a complete regulatory Bruins (including ponytails and hats), promising to refund the cost of purchasing furniture to Jordan's customers if the Bruins won the Stanley Cup for the second season consecutive. The Big Check promotion is identical to the Monster deal, above, where buyers are offered the same deal if the Boston Red Sox won the 2007 World Series. The Bruins were knocked out of the Stanley Cup bout in the first round of the playoffs, losing to the Washington Capitals in seven games, and again Tatelman was not obliged to return the money to Jordan's customers.
Perfect Game
On April 3, 2013, Tatelman reappeared with a new promotion - The Perfect Game - this time accompanied by "consultant" Red Sox, Pedro MartÃÆ'nez, a former star thrower with the team. The Gimmick this time is similar to The Monster Hit, except for winning free furniture, a Red Sox pitching staff member has to swim the perfect game for the last 72 games of the 2013 season.
According to BaseballReference.com, since 1865, there are 23 Perfect Games that play in 202,520 Major League Baseball games. Therefore, one Perfect Game is played in every 8805 contest. Assuming a 72-month Jordan contest period each season, Jordan will give free furniture to customers on average once in 122.7 years.
Perfect Game Promotion includes purchases made between April 3, 2013 and May 5, 2013. 72 games that are eligible for the Perfect Match are played between July 19, 2013 and September 29, 2013. The Red Sox 2013 season ends without a perfect game being pitched, and once Again, customers do not accept free furniture.
School of trapeze
The outlets in Reading once featured a trapeze school, which included a 30-foot-wide, cloaked swing that anyone could use, along with a seat for observers. It closes at the end of 2014 and is replaced with a rope course called The BeanStalk. The small version of The BeanStalk is located just below it, called BeanSprout, which is only for small children.
