Histori
Tom Clancy and Doug Littlejohns founded Red Storm Entertainment in 1996. The company is openly launched towards the end of the year. Originally part of Virtus Corporation, the maker of 3D animation tools, the company released its first game -
Red Storm followed the success of Rainbow Six with a mission pack,
Released in 2001, Ghost Recon won several "Game of the Year" awards. The Xbox version also marks the first time RSE has ventured into the development of the internal console, and is the first Xbox Live title to really take advantage of multiplayer console possibilities. Follow-up add-ons like Guntur Island continue to expand the world of Ghosts, while the Red Storm itself grows and moves the office to a new location in Morrisville, North Carolina. In 2003, Ubisoft is ready to consolidate North Carolina operations. Another Ubisoft area studio, Sinister Games in downtown Raleigh, is integrated into Red Storm, with the main operating base remaining at the Morrisville location.
In 2004, Red Storm released Ghost Recon 2 , a follow-up to the original game, designed by Lead Designer Christian Allen. Sent on the Xbox, it denotes the company's transition to primarily development consoles. This resulted in an add-on, Summit Strike , in 2005, which moved the move to Kazakhstan, as well as downloadable content, something that would characterize the franchise. Red Storm has also developed a multiplayer aspect of the two iterations of the Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter series. It won the BAFTA's Game of the Year award and the Best Technical Achievement award in 2006.
Recently, Red Storm continued development on Tom Clancy games such as Ghost Recon: Future Soldier (2012) and The Division (2016), while working with Ubisoft Montreal on franchise Far Cry .
In 2016, Red Storm released their first virtual reality game, Werewolves Within , followed by a May 2017 release from another, Star Trek: Bridge Crew .
