History

2008: Cynosura

The first conference took place at Puebla's Convention Center in 2008. Its name comes from the Polaris star, also named Cynosura by the Greeks, in connection with the constellation Ursa Minor. Cynosura lasts from November 6 to 8, with speakers given 21 minutes to attend. The conference commemorates the 100-year scandal caused by the No.2 String Quartet at F Sharp Minor by Austrian composter Arnold Schoenberg, with an atonality that disrupts traditional classical music.

2009: Re-evolution

From 2009 onwards, the University Cultural Complex of the Meritorious Autonomous University in Puebla is home to the International Brilliant Minds Festival. La Ciudad de las Ide celebrates the International Year of Astronomy with "night telescopes" and, from 2009 to 2012, innovative ideas in science and humanities are recognized with the Prize of Innovation for Humanity and Employers' Prize for Humanity .

The prize winners of Innovation for Humanity in 2008 were Daniel Dennett and Steven Pinker, while the Employers for Humanitarian Award recognized nearly 300 individuals.

2010: The future of the future

In 2010, CDI commemorated two historic events relevant to Mexico: the Commemoration of the Bicentennial Independence Day and the Hundred Years' Memorial of the Mexican Revolution. The 2010 edition took place at the University Cultural Complex at the Autonomous Autonomous University of Puebla from November 11 to 13, where more than 33 speakers attended.

The Prize-winning Prize for Innovation for Humanity in 2009 was Dan Ariely and Philip Zimbardo, and the Employers for Humanitarian Award recognized 200 individuals.

2011: Reset

This CDI edition takes place from 10 to 12 November 2011 at the University Cultural Complex at the Meritorious Autonomous University of Puebla. As in 2009, "night telescope" took place on Friday the 11th at 7 pm.

The prize winners of Innovation for Humanity in 2010 are Michio Kaku and Richard Dawkins. The Prize Entrepreneurship for Humanity was awarded to 120 individuals.

2012: Miracle If

The fifth edition of the festival is entitled "The Magic of If". This edition runs from 8 to 10 November 2012 at the University Cultural Complex at the Meritorious Autonomous University in Puebla. This includes a new section dedicated to Mexican talent, called "Mex-me-can" and, on the other hand, the time for the speakers to present reduced by 21 to 12 minutes.

Innovation Prize Winners for Humanity in 2011 were Eduard Punset, Oliver Stone and Dambisa Moyo. For the 2012 edition, the Prize Entrepreneur for Humanity is transformed into a reward with great reach and significance, turning into an initiative that stimulates a social entrepreneurship project, called Gift Gifted Citizens .

2013: Malicious Ideas

The sixth edition of the festival runs from 7 to 9 November 2013, under the title "Dangerous Idea". Ciudad de las Ideas 2013 also takes place at the University Cultural Complex at Meritorious Autonomous University in Puebla and covers a new curatorial topic, "W-Under 18" which invites children and teenagers who change the world, such as Jack Andraka, Boyan Slat, and Umi Garrett.
